How Long Can I Receive My Pension?

You can decide how long your occupational pension should be paid out. If you do not make an active choice, it will generally be paid out monthly for the rest of your life from the time you start receiving it.

The most common options are to receive your pension for life or over a fixed period of 5–20 years, although other payout options may be available depending on the pension agreement you belong to.

Further down this page, you can read about the options available under your specific pension agreement.

How to Make Your Choice

If you would like to change the payout period, it is important that you make your choice well before your pension payments begin. Once payments have started, you cannot change the start age or shorten the payout period.

On My Pages, you can see the options available to you. You can also compare different alternatives to see how the size of your pension is affected by the length of the payout period.

  • If you would like to make changes to your pension payments, you must notify us through My Pages. You can do this no earlier than 7 months and no later than 2 months before your payments are scheduled to begin.
  • If we do not receive any instructions from you, your pension will be paid out according to its current terms.
